Hello, I am Takeisha, a fine art photographer and artist. My journey with photography began in 1996, a journey rooted in joy and a desire to reflect the beauty and resilience of our community in ways I felt were missing from the broader narrative.

As a black woman, I found myself drawn to the magic and beauty in our everyday lives – in our children, our families, our stories. My lens first focused on my own children, capturing moments and perspectives that I believe were vital, yet often overlooked. This passion grew during my college years as I found myself stepping into the gap once more. I saw the lack of representation in Art History and felt compelled to photograph what I believed was missing – us.

This website is an extension of that mission. Tired of waiting for someone else to tell our stories, I decided to create a platform that amplifies the voices of minority artists in my community and beyond. My hope is that this site serves as a spotlight, illuminating the unique perspectives, talents, and narratives of black and minority artists.

Art, to me, is more than just a form of expression. It's a source of inspiration, a beacon of hope, and a window into diverse worlds. I firmly believe that our voices and narratives are vital to the fine art world and that our representation should be a given, not a rarity.
